The thriving Downtown Bethesda neighborhood is located at the intersection of the Wisconsin Avenue, Old Georgetown Road and East-West Highway. A quick ride to the Takoma Metro stop brings you to this little alternative enclave. Here, you can buy textiles from Tibet, dine on Korean bi bim bahp and try on fur coats from the 1950s without walking more than a few blocks. Be sure to spend some time browsing in Takoma Books. Though the town is small by city standards, there is lots to discover and enjoy.

Potomac Overlook Regional Park offers 100 acres of scenic woodlands and outdoor adventure. Children and adults will enjoy learning about the outdoors at the park's nature center, which features wildlife and archaeological displays and an auditorium for educational programs. The park has a nature trail with regularly scheduled hikes. There are also vegetable, herb, butterfly and wildflower gardens. Schools and organized groups may make arrangements for special programs.

Book Hill is a charming, historic neighborhood that is centered around the stretch of Wisconsin Avenue that lies between P street and Reservoir Road. With its beautiful 19th-century homes and charming boutiques, Book Hill boasts a distinct style that would not be out of place in Paris or London. From antique stores and clothing boutiques, to quaint patisseries and cafes, Book Hill is a haven for discerning local shoppers and tourists alike. You could easily while away hours exploring the many treasures on offer and soaking up the pleasant charm of Book Hill. The neighborhood is also known as the venue of the much-awaited annual French Market and street fair.

This historic neighborhood is lined with trendy boutiques and fine restaurants. The abundant nightlife in Georgetown draws both locals and visitors. Just wander down busy M Street and Wisconsin Avenue and explore the eclectic shops, or stop in for a pint at one of the numerous pubs overflowing with college kids. After you get your fill of the hoopla, stroll off the main strip onto the tree-shaded streets filled with Georgian and Victorian townhouses that are home to many politicians and celebrities.

With cute boutiques, great restaurants, amazing nightlife spots, and tourist attractions like the African-American Civil War Memorial, U Street is a wonderful neighborhood in the city. A portion of this nine-block district is part of the larger Shaw District, but U Street is unique because it was once the cultural center for African Americans in the city and the area remains important to this day. U Street is known for its cultural vibe, you'll discover artistic murals lining the neighborhood as well as top jazz venues and theaters.

With its funky shops and trendy restaurants and bars, Dupont Circle is one of the hippest neighborhoods in Washington. Its cosmopolitan air draws visitors both young and old. Once a neighborhood of old money and the nouveau riche, Dupont Circle today is home to artists, intellectuals and young professionals. The neighborhood's turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones, formerly home to prominent families, today house art museums, restaurants, embassies and fun shops. Dupont Circle is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums with paintings by Renoir, Degas and Cézanne.
