Located in the Yale University Campus,the Grove Street Cemetery dates back to being established in the late 18th Century. This cemetery was built in 1796 and was declared as a National Historic Landmark in 2000. Many notable historical figures from Yale and New Haven are buried here, including 14 Yale University's presidents. Tours are available during summers and early winters and show the burial sites of notable people here.

The New Haven Town Green is one of New England's oldest, completed in 1638. Portions of the Green were used as a cemetery until the 1820s when the headstones were moved to the new Grove Street Cemetery. The 16-acre public park is a popular site for concerts and picnics, and an overall excellent gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The Green is also the location of an Amistad memorial. Along the Green there are three churches built in the 1810s: Center Church, United Church and Trinity Church.

Marsh Botanical Garden is situated within the precincts of Yale University. Its name pays tribute to Othniel Charles Marsh, who bestowed this property upon the university. Beatrix Farrand planned the landscape of the garden that houses a wide variety of plant species. Faculty, students, nature lovers, researchers and many other visitors head to this botanical gardens that has four greenhouses, perennial beds, seasonal plants and much more.

Edgerton Park delights one and all with its lush, green lands that invite you to spend a lazy afternoon at the park. Take a long walk in the park, picnic with close friends and loved ones or attend one of the special events that are held here from time to time. Beaver Ponds was once a wetland and considered useless. Today it is a picture of ball fields, swimming pools, playgrounds, and lush greenery. Bowen Field, a baseball stadium and Wilbur Cross High School are prominent structures in the park and attract the most visitors. The lagoons and trails on the property make it conducive for a nature walk. Fishing is also possible in the ponds.

An easy drive from downtown New Haven, this park is a beautiful respite from the hustle and bustle of life. As you meander along the curved, tree-lined roads up to the summit, you will be greeted by a spectacular view of the city, Long Island Sound and the New Haven Harbor. There is a prized bird sanctuary, picnic and playground facilities, and if you are in the mood for a brisk walk, there are 10 miles of hiking trails. Enjoy the great outdoors right in the city.

Edgewood Skate Park is ideal for a good day's skating, provided you are all padded up. The course is apt for skateboarders and inline skaters to practice their skills. The park is accessible to the public and charges a minimum fee per session. Though beginners rub shoulders with the pros, word is that newcomers face a tough time. Check the safety policy before venturing.

Edgewood Park is home to a popular weekly farmer's market during the summer.
